Starlink Mini to Dewalt Battery Adapter | 20V MAX & FLEXVOLT Power Cable

OC-SLMINI-DEWALT-ADPT

Run your Starlink Mini directly from your Dewalt 20V MAX or FLEXVOLT battery — no inverter, no powerstation, no mains power required. This adapter plugs directly into any Dewalt 18V/20V MAX tool battery and delivers clean DC power to the Starlink Mini via a 5.5mm DC connector. If you already carry Dewalt batteries on the job or in the field, this is the simplest way to keep your Starlink Mini running off-grid.

What This Adapter Does

The Starlink Mini accepts DC input between 12V and 48V. Dewalt 20V MAX batteries output approximately 20V nominal, which sits perfectly within that range. This adapter provides a direct, efficient DC-to-DC connection — no AC inverter losses, no bulky powerstation needed. The result is a clean, lightweight power solution that works with the batteries you already own.

  • Compatible interface: Dewalt 18V / 20V MAX battery platform (works with all standard slide-in batteries including 1.5Ah through 9.0Ah and FLEXVOLT when used in 20V mode)
  • Output connector: DC 5.5mm x 2.1mm — the native DC input on the Starlink Mini
  • Cable: 1 metre / 3.3ft, 18AWG pure copper for efficient current delivery
  • Housing: ABS + PC fireproof injection-moulded plastic with secure battery locking mechanism
  • Weight: ~200g (adapter + cable)
  • No inverter required: Direct DC connection means no conversion losses and no extra equipment

Compatible Dewalt Batteries

Works with the full Dewalt 20V MAX and 18V XR range sold in Australia, including:

  • 20V MAX Compact: DCB201 (1.5Ah), DCB203 (2.0Ah)
  • 20V MAX Standard: DCB204 (4.0Ah), DCB205 (5.0Ah)
  • 20V MAX XR High Capacity: DCB206 (6.0Ah), DCB208 (8.0Ah)
  • FLEXVOLT (20V mode): DCB606 (6.0Ah), DCB609 (9.0Ah), DCB612 (12.0Ah)
  • POWERSTACK: DCBP034 (3.4Ah), DCBP520 (5.0Ah)

Starlink Mini Runtime Estimates by Battery

The Starlink Mini draws 20W when idle and 25–35W under typical use (browsing, streaming, video calls), with peaks up to 40W. The table below gives estimated runtimes based on usable battery capacity (accounting for DC conversion efficiency of ~92% and ~80% usable depth of discharge).

Dewalt Battery Capacity Rated Wh Idle (20W) Typical (30W) Heavy (40W)
DCB201 / DCB203 1.5–2.0Ah 30–40Wh ~1.1 hrs ~45 min ~33 min
DCB204 4.0Ah 80Wh ~2.9 hrs ~1.9 hrs ~1.5 hrs
DCB205 5.0Ah 100Wh ~3.7 hrs ~2.5 hrs ~1.8 hrs
DCB206 6.0Ah 120Wh ~4.4 hrs ~2.9 hrs ~2.2 hrs
DCB208 8.0Ah 160Wh ~5.9 hrs ~3.9 hrs ~2.9 hrs
DCB606 FLEXVOLT 6Ah 6.0Ah (20V mode) 120Wh ~4.4 hrs ~2.9 hrs ~2.2 hrs
DCB609 FLEXVOLT 9Ah 9.0Ah (20V mode) 180Wh ~6.6 hrs ~4.4 hrs ~3.3 hrs
DCB612 FLEXVOLT 12Ah 12.0Ah (20V mode) 240Wh ~8.8 hrs ~5.9 hrs ~4.4 hrs

* Estimates based on usable capacity (80% DoD) and DC conversion efficiency (~92%). Actual runtime will vary depending on network activity, signal conditions, ambient temperature, and battery age. Starlink Mini rated at 20W idle, 25–35W typical, up to 40W peak (SpaceX specification).

Ideal Use Cases

  • Tradies & construction sites: Already carrying a bag of Dewalt batteries — plug in and run Starlink on-site without a generator or inverter
  • 4x4 & overlanding: Lightweight backup power option when your vehicle battery is needed for other loads
  • Farmers & station workers: Run Starlink in the field for operational connectivity without running the ute
  • Camping & remote work: Swap batteries as needed to stay online through the day

In the Box

  • 1x Dewalt battery adapter (18V/20V MAX interface)
  • 1x 1 metre 18AWG DC cable with 5.5mm connector

Compatibility Note

This adapter is designed for use with the Starlink Mini only. It is not compatible with Starlink Gen 3 (Standard/Standard Actuated) or Gen 2 dishes, which require different DC input voltages or connectors. For Dewalt battery compatibility, this adapter works with all standard 18V/20V MAX slide-in batteries. FLEXVOLT batteries function in 20V mode when used with 20V MAX tools and adapters.

Ships Australia-wide from Outcamp in Kapunda, South Australia.
