Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show 2027: What to Expect

Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show 2027: What to Expect

The Queensland marine calendar has one anchor event, and it runs over four days in May. The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show is on 20 to 23 May 2027, combining marina displays at Sanctuary Cove with indoor exhibition space on the Gold Coast.

How the show is laid out

Two halves, and they reward different planning. The marina is where you see hulls in the water, step aboard and judge a boat at its actual scale. The indoor halls carry the equipment side: electronics, fishing gear, accessories and the trade stands.

Most visitors do the marina first while their legs are fresh, then work the halls. If you are serious about a specific vessel, book a sea trial before you travel rather than hoping to arrange one on the day.

What to look at if connectivity matters

Boats are harder to fit than vehicles, and the show is a good place to look at how existing boats solve it:

  • Where the electronics live — and whether there is a clear run for a cable.
  • Cabin tops and hardtops — flat, elevated and often the best mounting real estate on the boat.
  • Rails and rail diameter — clamp mounts suit rails; measure the tube before ordering anything.
  • Surface material — stainless, aluminium and composite dominate, so magnetic mounts are rarely the answer on a boat.

Suction and clamp mounts are the usual routes on the water. The Setup Finder includes marine and rail options if you want a shortlist before you go.

Planning the trip

May on the Gold Coast is one of the better months: warm water, moderate crowds, and enough daylight to make a day of it. Book accommodation early if you are staying near Sanctuary Cove, and expect traffic around the northern Gold Coast in the mornings.

Dates: 20–23 May 2027. Location: Sanctuary Cove, Gold Coast, QLD. Organiser details: Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.

It sits in the Outcamp events calendar. For the rest of the trip, the Queensland travel guide covers the coast both north and south of the show.

No sealed roads, no servo, and a barge that will not wait. Here is how to do Mulgumpin properly in spring, from permits to the best camp on the western beach.

Hard sand under the tyres, humpbacks resting in the bay beyond the headland — a spring run to K'gari is the trip that earns its place on the calendar.

Frosty mornings, granite boulders and a fireside cellar door at every turn — Queensland's highest wine region is at its best when the rest of the state is in shorts.

Red dirt, artesian baths and the open road—the Adventure Way is the ultimate winter 4WD trek through Outback Queensland to the edge of the desert.

A big number on the box does not mean a big night of power. Here is how usable capacity, inverter loss and surge ratings decide what your caravan can actually run.

A fridge that copes fine in winter can fail badly at 40 degrees. Most of the fixes cost nothing — and one of them is a five-minute check behind the vent.

No bars at the free camp doesn't have to be part of the deal. Here's how to mount and power a Starlink Mini on your van so it works every time you stop.

A seized caravan bearing ends a trip faster than anything else on the rig. It is also one of the few failures you can spot a week early with the back of your hand.
